COLUMBUS, Ohio — Tanner Tully, a left-hander on the Ohio State baseball team, has been named Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. The award, which is the third career weekly honor for Tully, is shared with Illinois pitcher Kevin Duchene.
Tully pitched a season-high seven scoreless innings, scattering four hits, while striking out six and not walking a batter in a 7-1 win vs. Penn State Saturday afternoon. Tully, who threw 83 pitches, including 58 strikes, improves his season record to 3-1. The OSU sophomore is 10th in the Big Ten in walks allowed (8) and 12th in the league in ERA (2.33) in eight appearances in 2015. It’s Tully’s first B1G pitcher of the week accolade after being recognized as freshman of the week twice last year.
The Buckeyes (22-7, 7-2 Big Ten) continue their homestand against in-state opponent Kent State at 6:35 p.m. ET Wednesday at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The game will be streamed on BTN Plus ($).
