COLUMBUS, Ohio — There’s no time to sit back and relish the big road series win at nationally-ranked Nebraska because Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 6:35 p.m. ET Ohio State hosts Morehead State in a pair of non-conference games at Nick Swisher Field and Bill Davis Stadium.
The Buckeyes, 26-10 on the season and just 1.5 games out of the Big Ten Conference lead with a 9-3 mark, will try to keep its momentum going against a talented-hitting Morehead State team (25-14, 11-7 OVC). The Buckeyes are ninth in the country in team ERA (2.69), while the Eagles are the nation’s leader in batting average (.334).

OHIO STATE VS. THE EAGLES
Ohio State and Morehead State have played twice with the Buckeyes holding a 2-0 mark. Both games were played in Columbus. In the last meeting, the Buckeyes posted a 12-0 win over the Eagles during the 2009 campaign.
LEADING OFF
The Buckeyes are coming off three nationally-ranked wins last week against No. 4 Louisville and No. 24 Nebraska. Ohio State is 15-4 at home in Columbus, outscoring their opponents, 114-69.
- The team’s ERA is ninth in the country (2.62), which is second-best in the Big Ten.
- Ohio State is fifth in the conference in batting average (.275), slugging percentage (.407) and on-base percentage (.362).
- Overall, the Buckeyes are hitting .275 as a team with Troy Montgomery hitting .319 and Pat Porter with a .313 batting average.
- Tre’ Gantt was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after hitting .500 (6-for-12) with a run scored and two RBI last week
- Adam Niemeyer claimed the win over No. 4 Louisville in his first collegiate start in five shutout innings.
- Ronnie Dawson led the team at the plate in the Nebraska series with a .556 batting average (5-for-9) with a double and three walks.
- Travis Lakins threw a 10-inning masterpiece in game two vs. the Huskers, limiting the Nebraska bats to two hits with seven strikeouts. Lakins is 2-0 in Big Ten play with a 2.25 ERA.
- Ryan Riga continues to shine on the mound with a 5-2 record and 1.85 ERA (fifth-best in the Big Ten). Riga holds a 2-0 mark in Big Ten action with a 1.93 ERA.
- Jake Post (2.12), Trace Dempsey (2.42) Seth Kinker (2.51) and Michael Horejsei (3.38) all have impressive earned run averages out of the bullpen.
