Matt Angle Makes Major League Debut – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Buckeye Matt Angle made his Major League debut for the Baltimore Orioles Sunday against the Cleveland Indians. Angle recorded a walk in four plate appearances while batting leadoff and playing left field.
The Columbus native and seventh round pick of the Orioles in the 2007 MLB Draft was batting .266 with seven doubles, four home runs and 49 runs scored at Triple-A Norfolk.
A three-year letterwinner at Ohio State, Angle was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and earned All-Mideast Region honors as a sophomore. He joins Nick Swisher, Cory Luebke and Eric Fryer as former Buckeyes currently playing Major League Baseball.
Luebke Wins Another Luebke, making his fourth start of the season for the San Diego Padres, picked up the win Saturday against the Giants, allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out five over seven innings.
He is 2-1 with a 1.50 earned-run average in four starts since being moved to the rotation June 26. In those four starts, Luebke has struck out 26 batters while walking just four and allowing opponents to hit .148.
Shuck a Triple-A All-Star Coming off an appearance in the Triple-A All-Star Game Wednesday, J.B. Shuck went 4-for-6 with three walks and a run scored over two games against the Iowa Cubs last weekend.
The Galion, Ohio, native is hitting .274 with six doubles and 40 runs scored in 84 games for Oklahoma City, the Pacific Coast League affiliate of the Houston Astros. The outfielder has walked 44 times against only 25 strikeouts in 266 at-bats.
