COLUMBUS, Ohio – Members of Ohio State’s baseball team not only enjoyed some great seats in Ohio Stadium for the Big Ten Conference football opener with Minnesota, but they were also part of the traditional Scarlet and Gray Games “parade of athletes” at halftime of the game.
All of Ohio State’s 36 varsity sports that were not competing in an athletics competition Saturday were seated together among the crowd of more than 100,000 fans at the football game. At halftime the teams were paraded onto the field and into the middle of the block “O” formed by the band so the crowd could honor the accomplishments of the teams over the past year.
To build the student-athlete community, all Buckeyes are encouraged to show support for their fellow student-athletes by attending each team’s Scarlet and Gray game. The overlying theme of the event is based on “student-athletes supporting student-athletes.” The Ohio State vs. Minnesota football game was the first Scarlet and Gray game of the year.
