Ronnie Bourquin Named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State third baseman Ronnie Bourquin was named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week after going 5-for-6 in the Buckeyes’ lone game last week, a 14-0 win over Massachusetts on Sunday.
Bourquin, the hottest of the Buckeyes at the plate, started the game with five straight singles before a fly out in his last visit to the plate. He drove in five runs and scored twice. Bourquin, a junior from Canton, Ohio (Canton South) ran his hit streak to a team-leading and career-long eight games and ran his batting average to .520 for the team’s first 11 games this season.
The win over Massachusetts was the first game of a six-game spring break trip to Bradenton, Fla. Ohio State followed up with a 12-4 victory over Cornell on Monday to run its win streak to six games and improve to 8-4 on the year. The Buckeyes will play a split doubleheader Tuesday, meeting Illinois-Chicago at 10 a.m. before playing Cornell for a second time at 2:30 p.m. The team will take Wednesday off before playing Vermont Thursday and Friday to close the trip.
