BRADENTON, Fla. – The Ohio State vs. Vermont baseball game that was to be played Wednesday at IMG Academy was rained out and will not be rescheduled. The Catamounts return to Burlington Thursday to prepare for its weekend series at Yale, while the Buckeyes will remain in Bradenton on its spring break trip. Ohio State will play Cornell Thursday and Saturday and will face Dartmouth Friday.
Baseball has won five straight games, including all four on its spring break trip to Bradenton, Fla., to improve to 8-4 on the season. Jedidiah Stephen is leading the Buckeyes on spring break and is batting .417 with five hits, including two doubles and a homer, and four RBI in the four games. He has a slugging percentage of .833. Cody Caughenbaugh (.400, six RBI) and Paul Farinacci (.308, seven RBI) each has four hits on the trip. Cory Luebke, Trent Luyster, Rory Meister and Trey Fausnaugh have victories in Florida, though Luebke’s performance vs. Wisonsin-Milwaukee was the most impressive. The true freshman took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and a shutout into the ninth in a 4-1 complete game victory in which he struck out nine (with no walks) and allowed four hits.
