Nov. 9, 2005
The annual Ohio State University Hitting School will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 27 through Thursday, Dec. 29. All baseball players will have the preseason opportunity to improve their hitting skills for the upcoming session. Applications will be processed on a first come basis. All of last year’s sessions were full, so please reply early.
The spacious Woody Hayes Athletic Center and the three brand new indoor hitting cages at Bill Davis Stadium will be used as the instructional area. Pitching machines, tee areas and individual instruction from Ohio State players all are here to help you. Fundamentals will be stressed with hitting and specific drills. You will find all of this to be a valuable tool in helping your skill development.
In addition to our hitting school, we again will have a pitching and catching clinic. The pitching and catching sessions will be held in conjunction with the hitting sessions. In the pitching and catching session, we will give you an opportunity to learn important fundamentals for successful pitching and catching. We also will use the video equipment to develop proper fundamentals that are important.
Ohio State’s baseball staff will supervise the school, led by head coach Bob Todd, an expert hitting technician, and a fine set of assistants to help teach players the art of hitting, pitching, and catching. Current Ohio State baseball players will also serve as instructors during the week. It is strongly suggested each player wear hitting gloves for hand protection. You will be hitting two hours per session. Each player is encouraged to bring his own personal bat and helmet if at all possible. Please write your name on your bat, helmet and gloves.
