COLUMBUS, Ohio – Scott Lewis (So., Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week Monday after tossing a complete game, two-hit shutout in the opening game against Purdue Saturday.
Lewis struck out 10 batters in a seven-inning complete game gem to earn Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honors for the second time in the last three weeks. The left-handed pitcher allowed only two hits and walked one batter in the series opener against Purdue to jump-start the Buckeyes to a four-game road sweep of the fourth-place Boilermakers. Lewis leads the Big Ten with 104 strikeouts, which is already the fifth-highest single-season total in Ohio State history. Lewis was also honored as Co-Big Ten Pitcher of the Week on April 14 with teammate Greg Prenger.
Ohio State will play host to Bowling Green at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday at Bill Davis Stadium. The game will be broadcast on WOSU Radio (820 AM).
