COLUMBUS, Ohio – %^$Play was suspended in the top of the second inning of Friday night’s Ohio State vs. Northwestern baseball game at Bill Davis Stadium after heavy rains moved into the area.%^$
%^$Northwestern’s David Gresky faced a 2-2 count vs. OSU pitcher E.J. Laratta (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) with no outs in the top of the second inning when third base umpire Tom Kovacic motioned for the teams to clear the field after he spotted lightning. Neither team had scored.%^$
%^$The two teams will resume the nine-inning game where play left off beginning at 1:30 p.m. Saturday and then follow with the originally scheduled doubleheader 20 minutes following the conclusion of the suspended game. Both games of the twinbill will be seven innings. Ohio State and Northwestern will conclude the series with a nine-inning game on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
