COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State baseball player Nick Swisher (Fr., Parkersburg, W.Va.) has been named to the 2000 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team. The honor caps a brilliant season for the first baseman. Swisher, one of the most decorated freshman in the country, has already been named the Big Ten Baseball Freshman of the Year and to the all-conference third team.
“As the season continued, Nick continued to improve and produce at a high level,” head coach Bob Todd said. “By the end of the season, there wasn’t much doubt that he was one of the top freshmen in the country. This is a deserving honor and it should motivate Nick to work even harder this summer on his game.”
Swisher led all Big Ten freshmen with 10 home runs. He also carried a .299 batting average, a .549 slugging percentage and totaled 48 runs batted in.
