MILLINGTON, Tenn. – A day filled with rain and even a brief hailstorm has brought the 2000 Service Academies Classic to a screeching halt. Day three of the tournament was scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with Ohio State set to play Memphis at 3 p.m. Early this morning, tournament officials postponed the start of today’s action and will make an official announcement on rescheduling sometime today.%^$
%^$The Buckeyes opened their season and the tournament with a pair of thrilling games. Yesterday against Navy, OSU lost in extra-innings 4-3. In the second game, the Buckeyes used a solid pitching performance from preaseason All-American E.J. Laratta and a clutch home run from shortstop Trent McIlvain to upset No. 25 Notre Dame, 5-4. Ohio State is now one win away from mathematically clinching a berth to the tournament’s championship game. Pitcher Nate Smith (So.. Bryan, Ohio) is scheduled to start against Memphis.%^$
