Three Baseball Buckeyes Earn All-America Honors – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three members of the Ohio State baseball team – Justin Fry (Sr., RHP, Munhall, Pa.), Chad Ehrnsberger (So., 2B, Kalida, Ohio), and Mike Lockwood (Jr., OF, Powell, Ohio) – were named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-American team today. All three of the Buckeyes received second-team honors.%^$
%^$Fry, the 1999 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, led the Big Ten and set a new career high with 11 victories. He ranked second in the conference in strikeouts (104) and first in innings pitched (114.1). Ehrnsberger tied for third in the Big Ten with sixteen home runs and was first-team all-league selection. He also ranked third in the conference with 73 RBI. Lockwood, one of the most well-rounded players in the nation and a 23rd round selection of the Oakland As two weeks ago in the Major League Baseball amateur draft, ranked among the top five in the Big Ten in hits (87), runs (71), home runs (15), and triples (5). He drove in 55 runs despite batting in the leadoff spot the entire season.%^$
%^$Fry was also named an All-American in 1997. Lockwood and Ehrnsberger are both first-time All-America selections.%^$
