COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes (5-3) fell to West Virginia (5-2-1), 4-1, at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
MATCH SUMMARY
- The Mountaineers showed their quickness right from the start, firing off multiple shots before Parker Siegfried was called for a penalty in his box and West Virginia went up 1-0 in the 18th minute on a penalty kick.
- Ohio State created multiple chances to score but the West Virginia defense held firm all the way through the first half to go into the locker room with the lead.
- Coming out of the half, the Buckeyes found life as they drew a corner kick in the 50th minute. Jack Holland lined up and fired a great ball into the box as Mitch Bergman leapt past his defender to head the ball into the near corner and score the equalizer.
- West Virginia struck back quickly in the 53rd minute creating traffic in front of the net that led to an own goal and a 2-1 lead.
- The Mountaineers would add on two more scores before the night was over, defeating Ohio State 4-1.
