KIAWAH ISLAND RESORT, S.C. – Rain on Sunday made for a long day of golf on Monday. Ohio State was led by a pair of freshmen making their Buckeye stroke-play debuts as Maxwell Moldovan and Adam Wallin are 6-under par and in a tie for ninth.

As a team, the Buckeyes opened with a round of 5-under 283 and are also 5-under for the second round with a couple of holes left to finish. The 10-under par score has the Buckeyes in a tie for seventh.

Wallin opened his day with a solid 1-under 71. He then made a couple of birdies and a double-bogey in his first four holes of the afternoon before catching fire. He birdied No. 16 and eagled the par-5 17th to turn in 3-under. Three more birdies and just one bogey coming home gave him a second round 67.

Moldovan was the only player in the field on Monday without a bogey. The Uniontown, Ohio native made six birdies and 28 pars and has two holes remaining in his second round.

Sophomore Jackson Chandler shot a 1-under 71 in the morning and followed with a 1-over 73 in the afternoon. Fellow sophomore Patrick Schmucking opened with a 72 and was 4-over through 10 holes of his second round. He finished with two birdies in the final eight holes to post a 74. Elis Svard rounded out the team scoring as he had a 72 in the morning and is 5-over with a hole to play in the second round.

Felix Kvarnstrom is playing as an individual this week and he currently sits at 2-under par with five holes left in his second round. He made a total of seven birdies in his 31 holes on Monday. Grant Engle shot a 72 in the morning and is 5-over par with six holes left in the second round.
