NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Ohio State baseball team dropped a 4-2 decision to Lipscomb in the rubber game of a three-game set Sunday afternoon at Dugan Field. With the loss, the Buckeyes drop to 3-6 on the year while the Bisons improve to 8-2.
The Buckeyes travel to Florida for five games in six days next week, opening with a 6:30 p.m. Friday matchup against Stetson in DeLand.
LIPSCOMB STRIKES EARLY
The Bisons took the early lead in the bottom of the first against Ohio State left-hander Griffan Smith. Singles by Haddon Adams and Chris Bashlor put runners at first and third with nobody out before a sacrifice fly to right by Maddux Houghton plated Adams with the first run of the game.
ERWIN LONG BALL GIVES BUCKEYES THE LEAD
The Bisons maintained the lead until the fifth, when Colton Bauer singled to left off Lipscomb starter Dylan Bierman before Nick Erwin followed with a two-run blast to left for the 2-1 Buckeye lead. The long ball was the first-career home run for the sophomore from Grove City, Ohio.

GRIFF SETTLES IN
After allowing the run in the first, Smith battled to go 6.0 innings, allowing the one run on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

BISONS REGAIN LEAD IN SEVENTH
After Smith gave way to right-hander will Pfennig for the bottom of the seventh, Ty Jones doubled to right center before a bunt single by Chaz Bertolani put runners at the corners with nobody out. Brian Moore then squeezed home Jones with the tying run and an error on the play allowed Bertolani to move to third. Adams followed with a sacrifice fly to right to score Bertolani with the go-ahead run.
Notes
– Conner Pohl extended his reached-base streak to a team-high eight games with a fourth-inning double.
– Erwin earned his first start of the season at third base.
