Megan Smith recently completed her ninth season as the Buckeyes’ director of operations. Her duties cover nearly every facet of the program, including planning and executing all team travel and serving as a contact between the program and the athletics department on administrative tasks.
Smith, who graduated from Ohio State with a degree in family and financial services from the College of Education and Human Ecology, played in 206 games over her four-year career in Columbus. She collected 140 hits, 93 RBI, scored 80 runs and had 14 home runs. Her senior season in 2013 was the first under head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly.
Smith came to Ohio State from Fullerton, Calif., and saw immediate playing time as a freshman in 2010. She started 38 games for a veteran-laden team that went 39-14 and qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Over the next three years, Smith started in and played every game for the Buckeyes, making her one of the most experienced players to ever don the Scarlet and Gray.
Smith and her husband, Spencer, have to young children and reside in Upper Arlington. Spencer was a member of the Ohio State football team from 2007-11 and is the Director of Athletics at Upper Arlington High School.
