ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Ohio State baseball team (29-23, 18-12 Big Ten) completed the series sweep against Michigan (32-22, 17-13 Big Ten) with an 8-1 victory against the Wolverines on Saturday. It is the first time the Buckeyes have swept the Wolverines in Ann Arbor since 1994.

Game Recap

With two outs in the top of the first, Noah Furcht and Dane Harvey were both hit by pitches. Maddix Simpson singled through the left side to send Furcht home and put the Buckeyes on the board. Mason Eckelman drew a walk to load the bases. Lee Ellis stepped up to the dish next and he sent a double into the gap in right center to clear the bases and give Ohio State the early 4-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, a solo home run from the Wolverines cut the Buckeye lead to three, 4-1.
With one out in the top of the fifth inning, Furcht singled to shallow left field. With two outs, Simpson and Eckelman drew back-to-back walks to load the bases, but the runners were stranded.
Furcht walked to lead off the top of the seventh, followed by a double from Harvey to put both runners into scoring position. A sacrifice fly from Simpson sent Furcht home to put the Buckeyes back ahead by four, 5-1.
Four straight errors for the Wolverines to open the ninth inning plated two runs for the Buckeyes. A sacrifice fly from Miles Vandenheuvel sent Ellis home to put Ohio State ahead by seven, 8-1.

Buckeyes by the Numbers

Ellis led the Buckeyes with three RBIs and Simpson had two RBIs.
Chris Domke (7-6) earned the win on the mound, tossing the second complete game of his career. It is his first career 9.0-inning complete game. Domke fanned six and allowed one run on just three hits. Domke is the first Ohio State pitcher to throw a 9.0-inning complete game in five years,

Up Next

The Buckeyes will compete in the Big Ten Tournament, which gets underway on Tuesday, May 19, next week in Omaha, Neb. The full bracket will be announced at the conclusion of all games this evening. This will be Ohio State's first trip to the conference tournament at Charles Schwab Field since 2024.
