Boyle records 12 draw controls for the Buckeyes
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 25 Ohio State women's lacrosse team fell to No. 21 Penn State, 18-9, Sunday in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. Penn State (10-3, 2-2 B1G) led 6-4 after the first quarter and 11-6 at the half, outscoring the Buckeyes (7-6, 2-4 B1G) in the second half, 7-3, for the win.

Abby Boyle led the Buckeyes with 12 draw controls, tied for the fifth-most in a single game in program history, and also scored her first career goal. Camryn Callaghan and Kate Tyack each had two goals and an assist for the Buckeyes and Maddy Paz notched two assists. Â

- The squad will then return home to close out the regular season, host Kent State at 3 p.m. April 15 and No. 1 Maryland at 4 p.m. April 18. Admission and parking are free.Â
How it Happened
- Penn State jumped out to a 5-1 lead at the 7:45 mark of the first quarter. The Nittany Lions opened the scoring at 13:50, answered by Buckeye Kate Tyack 37 seconds later.
- A four-goal run from the Nittany Lions followed.
- Ohio State tallied three of the next four to draw within two (6-4) after the first quarter.
- Camryn Callaghan scored unassisted from a sharp angle at 6:35 and Tyack found a cutting Kampbell Stone for a score with Ohio State player down at 3:53. After a PSU goal at 1:43, Buckeye Brooke Vinson tallied player-up unassisted 31 seconds later.
- The teams traded goals to start the second, with PSU tallying at 13:28 and Callaghan scoring on a free position chance for the Buckeyes at 11:56.
- A four-goal run from Penn State put the visitors ahead 11-5 with 39 seconds left in the quarter. Tyack ended the run with 10 seconds on the clock, as she was found outside the crease by Maeve Simonds with Ohio State player up. Penn State led 11-6 at the half.
- The Buckeyes were outscored 4-1 in the third quarter. Penn State tallied at 14:29, 12:48 and 11:32 for a 15-6 lead.
- With quick passing, Isabelle Osborn scored off a pass from Callaghan at 8:11.
- Penn State tallied the final goal of the third at 3:50 and the first three of the fourth for an 18-7 lead with 6:28 left in regulation.
- Maddy Paz set up the last two goals of the game, with Zoe Coleman scoring at 4:47 and Abby Boyle recording her first collegiate goal at 3:37.
- Ohio State was outshot, 39-26, in the game. Buckeye goalie Jocelyn Torres made five stops and Penn State's goalie had 12 saves.
- Ohio State controlled the draw circle, finishing ahead 22-7. Boyle was first for the Buckeyes with 12, Stone and Simonds each had three and Annie Hargraves had two.
- Penn State had the edge in ground balls, 18-12. Tyack, Coleman, Paz and Simonds each had two ground balls to lead the Buckeyes.
- Ohio State was 15-for-15 on clears, with Penn State 27-for-31.
- Boyle has a team-high 76 draw controls, tied for the fourth-most in a single season in school history. She has 126 in her career to rank sixth in the Buckeye record book.
- Boyle set the program record for draw controls in a game with 16 earlier this season vs. Detroit Mercy. The 12 she had vs. Penn State are tied for the fifth-most in a single game and mark her second game with 12.
- Tyack leads the Buckeyes with 19 assists and 52 points, ranking second with 33 goals. She extended her point streak to 19 with 45 goals and 65 points in the stretch and has multiple points in 11 of 13 games this year. Tyack has 123 points as a Buckeye (91 g, 32a).
