Ohio State led until the bottom of the fifth inning

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State softball (24-24) dropped a 13-6 decision to No. 14 Oregon, following a late Oregon rally.

The offense produced its runs on four hits, each of them a home run by four different Buckeyes, including Hadley Parisien, Abbie Wilhelm, Sami Bewick and an inside the park home run by Skylar Limon. Those four, alongside Taylor Cruse, scored each run.

Lorin Boutte got the start, tossing four innings, three of which were shutout. Boutte allowed six earned runs, while striking out four. Lexi Paulsen threw two innings in relief, allowing five earned runs and striking out two.

How it Happened

Hadley Parisien put Ohio State on top 1-0 on the first pitch of the ball game, sending a home run to left field.
Skylar Limon added a run in the top of the third, legging out an inside-the-park homer. An error that scored Parisien and a Sami Bewick sac ground ball that brought in Taylor Cruse gave the Buckeyes a 4-0 lead through three.
Oregon cut the lead to one run in the bottom of the fourth on an Elon Butler three-run home run.
Ohio State got a run back in the top of the fifth on an Abbie Wilhelm solo shot, giving the Buckeyes a 5-3 lead.
Emma Cox sent a two-run home run to left in the bottom half, tying the game at five apiece. A sac fly off the bat of Amanda Urbina and an error gave Oregon a 7-5 lead.
Sami Bewick put the Buckeyes back within one via a solo shot in the top of the sixth.
Oregon took a 13-6 lead in the top of the sixth, via another Cox two-run shot out to left and a Katie Flannery grand slam.
Lorin Boutte (6-6) got the start and the loss. Elise Sokolsky (7-2) got the start and the win, with Lyndsey Grein getting the save.
