The series finale will be aired on Big Ten Network tomorrow at 4 p.m.
The Ohio State offense put up a strong effort, with hits by six different Buckeyes. Sami Bewick went 4-4 on the day with an RBI, with Taylor Cruse going 2-4 with a home run and three RBI.
Lorin Boutte got the start, throwing five innings and allowing six earned runs while striking out four. Kennedy Kay got the loss for Ohio State, allowing two earned runs.
How it Happened
- Ohio State took an early 3-0 lead, with Abbie Wilhelm scoring Hadley Parisien on a two-run home run and a double steal that allowed Sami Bewick to steal home.
- Brooke Klosowicz tied the game on one swing with a three-run home run in the top of the third.
- The Buckeyes retook the lead 4-3 in the bottom half with a no-doubt Taylor Cruse home run to right field.
- Cruse would then double in the fourth, scoring Parisien and Skylar Limon. Bewick then singled to score Cruse and give Ohio State the 7-3 lead.
- Penn State plated two in the top of the fifth on an Allison Oneacre home run and an error.
- The Nittany Lions scored again with a Natalie Lieto solo home run in the top of the sixth. Another Oneacre home run, a bases loaded walk, a Michela Barbianente sac fly, RBI singles by Macy Chamberlin and Klosowicz, and two errors combined to give Penn State 10 runs in the inning and the 15-7 lead.
- Kennedy Kay (3-5) got the loss for Ohio State, allowing two hits and two earned runs. Lorin Boutte got the start, throwing five innings while allowing six earned runs and scattering eight hits. Lexi Paulsen got an inning of work for the Buckeyes, allowing two hits and two earned runs.
