The Buckeyes dealt Penn State its first shutout of the season

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State softball (23-22) claimed its fourth conference series win of the 2026 campaign on a 9-0, run rule shutout over Penn State (28-17). The win came in front of a sold-out crowd at Buckeye Field.

Lottie Landmesser led the day at the plate, going 2-2 with two home runs and three RBI. Taylor Cruse and Kiki Estrada each went deep on the day as well, both collecting two RBI. The Buckeye offense put up nine runs on nine hits.

Lorin Boutte was in full command in the circle, going the distance with four strikeouts and just two hits allowed. The win marked Boutte's first shutout of the season.

How it Happened, 5 inn.

Ohio State opened scoring in the first inning RBI doubles by Sami Bewick and Kiki Estrada, with Bewick's base knock scoring Parisien and Estrada scoring Bewick.
The Buckeyes extended their lead to 6-0 with four runs in the second inning, via a leadoff home run by Lottie Landmesser, a Parisien triple that scored Izzy Neal, and a two-run shot by Taylor Cruse that scored Parisien.
The offense tacked on another three runs in the bottom of the third on a Kiki Estrada solo shot and Landmesser's second home run of the day, this time a two-run blast that scored Reese Cullen to take a 9-0 lead.
Lorin Boutte (5-4) got the start and the win, tossing five innings and scattering just two hits while striking out four. Abigail Britton (4-5) got the start and the loss for Penn State.

The Buckeyes will be back in action on April 21 for the season's final midweek game in a 5 p.m. contest against Akron. The game will feature Dollar Dog Night at Buckeye Field (while supplies last).
