Kaczmar Reaches 250 Career Hits in Game Two Against Purdue

Game Recap
- The Boilermakers struck first, taking a 6-0 lead after a bases-loaded walk, a two-RBI single, two RBI singles and a steal at home plate in the bottom of the first inning.
- Maddix Simpson led off the second inning with a single into right field. Mason Eckelman then smoked a double down the right field line to send Simpson home and out the Buckeyes on the board. A sacrifice bunt from Lee Ellis advanced Eckelman to third base. With two outs, Miles Vandenheuvel singled through the left side to score Eckelman and cut the Purdue lead to four, 6-2.
- In the bottom of the second, the Boilermakers scored on an RBI groundout and an RBI single to get back ahead of the Buckeyes by six, 8-2.
- Kaczmar led off with a double down the right field line in the top of the third, his 250th career hit. With one out, Dane Harvey stepped up to the dish and he sent his 11th home run of the season out of the yard to bring the Buckeyes back within four runs of the Boilermakers, 8-4.
- In the bottom of the seventh, the Boilermakers add two runs on a sacrifice bunt and a solo home run to take a 10-4 lead.
- Simpson and Eckelman drew back-to-back walks to open the eighth inning for the Buckeyes. A single through the left side from Ellis loaded the bases. Consecutive RBI groundouts from Grant Mangrum and Vandenheuvel plated two runs to bring the Buckeyes within four runs of the lead, 10-6.
- The Boilermakers got back ahead by six, 12-6, after a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
- Kaczmar and Noah Furcht hit back-to-back bloop singles to lead off the ninth frame. With one out on the board, Simpson walked to load the bases. A single to center field from Eckelman sent Kaczmar home to bring the Buckeyes within five, 12-7, but the Boilermakers secured the final two outs and the series win.
- The game was Kaczmar's 150th in the Scarlet and Gray. He and Eckelman led the Buckeyes in hits with three each.
- It is Harvey's fourth straight game with a home run.
- Harvey, Eckelman and Vandenheuvel each had two RBIs.
- Chris Domke (4-4) took the loss on the mound. He struck out one and gave up six runs on three hits in a third of an inning pitched.
- Jake Michalak fanned four and two runs on six hits in 4.2 innings of relief.
- Lincoln McVicker struck out three and allowed four runs on five hits in 3.0 innings tossed.
