WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Ohio State baseball team (19-19, 9-9 Big Ten) fell to Purdue (28-11, 15-6 Big Ten), 6-2, in Sunday's series finale at Alexander Field.

Game Recap

An RBI single gave the Boilermakers a 1-0 lead over the Buckeyes in the bottom of the first inning.
Another RBI single for Purdue in the bottom of the second put the Boilermakers ahead of Ohio State, 2-0.
With one out in the top of third inning, Miles Vandenheuvel walked. With two outs, Henry Kaczmar doubled up the middle to put two runners in scoring position, but they were left on base.
Dane Harvey walked to lead off the fourth for the Buckeyes, followed by a single from Maddix Simpson. Harvey advanced to third on a groundout, but he was stranded.
Simpson singled through the left side to lead off the seventh, but there was nothing else doing for the Buckeyes.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Boilermakers hit a solo home run to extend their lead, 3-0.
A bases-clearing double in the bottom of the eighth inning extended the Purdue lead over the Buckeyes, 6-0.
In the top of the ninth with one out, Noah Furcht and Harvey hit back-to-back solo shots, but it was not enough to overcome the Boilermakers.

Buckeyes by the Numbers

Kaczmar's double was his 19^th of the season, which leads the Big Ten.
Simpson led the Buckeyes with two hits.
Pierce Herrenbruck (4-2) took the loss. He fanned four and allowed three runs on eight hits in a career-high 6.2 innings pitched.
