
Buckeyes Defeat Toledo, Extend Win Streak to Four Games

Game Recap
- Toledo scored first in the top of the first off of a solo home run to left field to take a 1-0 lead.
- Henry Kaczmar extended his hit streak with a single up the middle and Mason Eckelman walked in the bottom half of the inning, but the pair were left stranded.
- In the top of the second, Toledo scored twice off to extend its lead, 3-0.
- The Buckeyes took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Eckelman walked to lead things off, followed by a double to left center from Dane Harvey. A sacrifice fly from Lee Ellis sent Eckelman home to put the Buckeyes on the board. With one out, Maddix Simpson, who reached base on a fielder's choice, scored on a Toledo error. An RBI single from Grant Mangrum and a two-RBI single from Kaczmar sent plated three more runs to give Ohio State a 5-3 lead.
- The Rockets knotted the game, 5-5, in the sixth inning off of a two-RBI single.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Miles Vandenheuvel was hit by a pitch and then stole second. Kaczmar walked with two outs and Noah Furcht was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Vandenheuvel scored on a passed ball to put the Buckeyes back in the lead, 6-5.
- Ellis singled to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning, then swiped second and third. Vandenheuvel walked with one out and then swiped second. With two outs on the board, Alex Bemis stepped up to the dish and he went yard, driving in three runs to extend the Buckeye lead, 9-5.
- In the bottom of the eighth, an RBI groundout from Ellis gave Ohio State a five-run lead, 10-5.
- The Rockets led off the ninth inning with a double to right field, but Andrew Edrington shut the door, striking out three Rockets in a row to cement the 10-5 victory.
- Kaczmar and Ellis led the Buckeyes in hits with two each. Kaczmar's hitting streak is now at 15 games.
- Bemis had a team-high three RBIs.
- Ellis and Vandenheuvel led the team in stolen bases with two each. The Buckeyes totaled six stolen bases overall.
- Jake Michalak (4-0) earned the win on the mound. He struck out one and gave up two runs on two hits in 2.0 innings pitched.
- Starter Ryan Butler and Edrinton each fanned three.
- The Buckeyes host Maryland for a three-game series Friday, April 3-Sunday, April 5.
