COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 15 Buckeyes (12-9) will compete against No. 17 Penn State (11-7) at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Fitzgerald Field House on the University of Pittsburgh campus for a neutral site game. The match will not be streamed but live stats are available. Â

Captain Shane Wetzel was awarded MIVA Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday. The opposite hitter recorded 32 kills and hit .442 in two matches last weekend to add to his career total of 1,238 kills, moving him to 11th in program history. This is Wetzel's fourth MIVA OPOW award of his career.Â

Ohio State will be back in Columbus at 5 p.m. April 4 vs Northern Kentucky for Senior Night at the Covelli Center to honor seniors Wetzel, Daniel Hurley and Jack O'Riordan. Â

In their history against the Nittany Lions, the Buckeyes are 49-85-1 all-time.Â

Stanislaw Chacinski finished with 22 kills, eight digs and three service aces across both matches for Ohio State last week vs Loyola Chicago and Lewis. He hit .550 against the Ramblers. Â

Following a team vote, Wetzel and Drew Hudson were named captains for the 2026 season. Hudson is the first sophomore to earn captain honors in the history of the program. Â

Wetzel and Chacinski both were recognized as 2025 AVCA Honorable Mention All-Americans after earning 2025 postseason Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association honors. In addition, the MIVA coaches voted Ohio State in the No. 2 position in the league 2026 preseason poll.Â

In his seventh season, Kevin Burch achieved his 100th win as Ohio State's head coach (108-71) with the victory against Lincoln Memorial (3-0). Securing the win against the Railsplitters gave Burch win No. 100 to go with one regular-season MIVA title, a pair of league tournament championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances. Â
