
Kuzniewski Throws Complete Game Shutout in Series Opener with Butler

Game Recap
- In the bottom of the first inning, Noah Furcht scored the first run of the game on a pick-off play to give the Buckeyes an early 1-0 lead.
- Dane Harvey led off the bottom of the second inning with a double to right field. Harvey and Steven Cavaco scored on a two-run double from Miles Vandenheuvel down the left field line. On the following pitch, CJ Reid ripped a single to center field to send Vandenheuvel home and give the Buckeyes a 4-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning with two outs, Reid drew a walk and Alex Bemis reached base on a Butler error to put two runners on for the Buckeyes. Henry Kaczmar singled to center field to score Reid. Furcht was up next at the dish, and he crushed a two-RBI triple, which brought home Bemis and Kaczmar. Furcht then scored off a Butler error to extend the Buckeye lead, 8-0.
- In the bottom of the fifth inning, Maddix Simpson and Cavaco drew back-to-back walks, and then executed a successful double steal. Vandenheuvel walked to load the bases, and Reid was hit by a pitch to send Simspn home and give the Buckeyes a 9-0 lead over the Bulldogs.
- Mason Eckelman was hit by a pitch to lead off the home half of the sixth, followed by a single from Harvey. A sacrifice bunt from Simpson moved both runners into scoring position. An RBI groundout from Cavaco scored Eckelman and Harvey scored on a wild pitch to give the Buckeyes a double-digit lead, 11-0.
- With one out and one runner on in the top of the seventh, the Buckeyes turned a 1-6-3 double play to ice the 11-0 run-rule, shutout victory.
- Kuzniewski (1-1) threw the first complete game of his career. He had five strikeouts and only gave up five hits in 7.0 innings pitched.
- Furcht led the Buckeyes at the plate with three hits.
- Furcht, Reid and Vandenheuvel shared the team lead in RBIs with two each.
- Every Buckeye in the lineup scored at least one run, with Furcht and Harvey each scoring two.
- The Buckeyes continue their series with Butler Saturday, May 21-Sunday, May 22. Saturday is Senior Day at Bill Davis Stadium, with the Senior Day ceremony set to begin at 2:25 p.m. Sunday is Zach Farmer Day.
