
All Five Buckeyes Under-Par on Day 1 of Puerto Rico Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – All five Buckeyes carded under-par rounds as Ohio State fired an opening round 267 and is in second place after day one of the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R.
Sophomore Vaughn Harber shot a career-low 7-under 65 that included eight birdies. He leads his teammate Tyler Sabo who also made eight birdies and finished with a 6-under 66. They are 1-2 in the individual standings after the opening round.
Junior Jack Vojtko started his spring well with his lowest round of the year, a 5-under 67. He is the third Buckeye in the Top 10 through 18 holes. Joe Wilson IV and Timotej Formanek each opened the tournament with a round of 3-under 69. They are in a tie for 25th.
The Buckeyes led the field with 34 birdies as a team and also led the field in par-4 scoring (3.82). Individually, Sabo and Harber’s eight birdies were the most on Monday and Sabo led the field as he played the par-4s at 4-under par.
The second round will begin with a 7:30 a.m. ET shotgun start on Tuesday. The Buckeyes are paired with the Top 2 ranked teams in the country, Virginia and LSU.
