COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s and women’s golf will host the Barbara Nicklaus Cup this week at famed Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The event will feature three match play matches between the Buckeyes, Charlotte, Clemson and Michigan.
The first two matches will take place on Monday morning and Monday afternoon and the final match will be on Tuesday morning. The point totals of each men’s match will be added to the point total of the corresponding women’s match and an overall school winner will be determined at the end of the three matches.
Ohio State will take on Charlotte on Monday morning at 7:45 a.m., rival Michigan on Monday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. and Clemson on Tuesday morning at 7:45 a.m.
The event is open to the public with admission and parking free for all three matches.
Proceeds from the event and Sunday’s Play Yellow Collegiate Am will benefit Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
- This is the fourth year of the Barbara Nicklaus Cup. The first year was a mixed match play event in 2021, the second year was a women’s stroke play event in 2022 and the third event was a combined match play event in 2024.
- The six men competing this week will be Vaughn Harber, Tyler Sabo, Jack Vojtko, Joe Wilson IV, Giedrius Mackelis and Timotej Formanek.
- The women’s lineup will feature Mandy Song, Matilde Santilli, Nellie Ong, Marina Joyce-Moreno, Sophie Eppelstun and Amalie Tauer.
- The men have opened the season with a sixth-place finish at the Folds of Honor Collegiate and a solid fifth place finish in a very strong field at the Inverness Invitational in Toledo.
- Jack Vojtko has led the team through the first two events with a pair of Top 20s and a 71.17 scoring average. He and Tyler Sabo have had four of the six rounds this season at par or better.
- The women’s team won the season-opening Roseann Schwartz Invitational and then finished sixth at the Folds of Honor Collegiate.
- Matilde Santilli claimed medalist honors at the Roseann Schwarz Invite, her first collegiate win, following rounds of 65-73.
- Freshman Amalie Tauer also notched her first collegiate victory this fall, winning the Rocket Classic as an individual. The win earned her a sponsor’s exemption into the Epson Tour event at Highland Meadows GC next summer.
- Sophie Eppelstun has finished in the Top 5 in each of her first two events this season, finishing runner-up to Santilli in the season-opener and then finishing third at the Folds of Honor Collegiate.
- The forecast for the two days looks ideal with sunny skies and highs around 70 degrees.
