Callaghan leads Ohio State with four goals and six points
COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the season opener for both teams, the Ohio State women's lacrosse team fell to Pitt, 13-10, Saturday inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

The teams were scoreless in the first quarter and each team tallied five goals in the second. Pitt outscored the Buckeyes 8-5 in the second half, including 3-1 in the fourth quarter, for the win. In a back-and-forth contest, the game was tied seven times.

In her first game as a Buckeye, senior transfer Camryn Callaghan had a team-best four goals and six points. Junior Kate Tyack had four points with two goals and two assists and senior Brooke Vinson had a two-point day with a goal and an assist. Goalie Jocelyn Torres made six saves in the Buckeye cage. Â

How it Happened
- The first quarter was scoreless, with the Panthers ahead in shots, 7-4.
- After Pitt opened the scoring at 14:17 of the second, Ohio State notched the next two, with Kate Tyack and Camryn Callaghan connecting on both. Tyack found Callaghan for a score at 12:44 and the roles were reversed at 11:19 for a 2-1 Ohio State lead.
- The Panthers tied the game at 10:56. Callaghan led Kampbell Stone for a goal from up high at 9:08 to push the Buckeyes ahead, followed by a Kate Tyack unassisted tally at 7:35 for a 4-2 Buckeye lead.
- The Panthers scored three of the final four goals in the quarter for a five-all game at the half.
- Pitt drew within one at 4:43 before Buckeye Audrey Rudolph came around the cage and scored, assisted by Tyack, at 3:28, for a 5-3 Ohio State advantage.
- Goals for Pitt at 2:09 and with 25 seconds remaining closed out the scoring in the half. Shots were 9-7 in favor of the visitors in the second.
- In the third, Pitt outscored the Buckeyes, 5-4, and each team had 10 shots.
- Brooke Vinson put the Buckeyes ahead just 43 seconds into the quarter (6-5). The teams then traded goals, with Pitt scoring at 13:41 and Vinson finding Callaghan for a player-up goal at 12:03, for a 7-6 Buckeye lead.
- The game was again tied with a Pitt goal at 9:40 and Riley Ebersole gave the Panthers the lead for the first time at 8:57.
- Callaghan converted a free position shot for the Buckeyes at 7:36 to deadlock the score at eight-all.
- With two of the three final goals, Pitt took a 10-9 lead into the quarter break.
- The Panthers moved ahead at 6:50, answered by Buckeye Lindsay Moneymaker with her first career goal at 4:59. A player-up goal from Pitt with 38 seconds remaining broke the tie for a 10-9 Panther lead.
- In the fourth, the Panthers stretched the lead to 13-9 with three goals in the first 5:29, scoring at 14:17, 13:44 and 9:31 (free position).
- Zoe Coleman found Callaghan in front with the Buckeyes player-up at 4:45 to draw Ohio State within three, but that was the final goal of the game.
- Pitt had seven shots in the fourth, Ohio State six.
- For the game, Ohio State was outshot, 33-27. Buckeye goalie Jocelyn Torres had six saves and the Pitt goalie made eight stops, with four in the fourth quarter.
- The Buckeyes had the advantage in ground balls, 18-13, paced by Torres with five and Stone and Ella Wright with three each.
- Delaney Harlan led Ohio State with three draw controls.
Buckeye This and That
- The game was the first between the Buckeyes and Panthers on the lacrosse field. Pitt is in its fifth season as a varsity program.
- With two goals and two assists, Tyack marked her 18th career multiple-point outing and her ninth with four or more points. It was her second with multiple assists after a four-assist game April 13, 2024 at Northwestern.
- Moneymaker's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
- Vinson recorded her first goal, assist and points since a three-point day (1g, 2a) against Youngstown State Feb. 16, 2024.
- Callaghan now has 192 collegiate points, with 161 goals and 31 assists. Â
- Rudolph's goal was the second of her career and first since March 15, 2025 at San Diego State.
- Freshman Abby Hawes made her collegiate debut in the game.
- Harlan, who played in three games over the last two years, had the first three draw controls of her Buckeye career.
The Schedule Ahead
- Three straight road games are up next for the Buckeyes, with trips to Louisville (Tuesday, Feb. 10), Cincinnati (Feb. 16) and defending NCAA champion North Carolina (Feb. 20).
- Ohio State will then return home for a three-game homestand, welcoming Detroit Mercy (Feb. 27), Robert Morris (March 1) and Vanderbilt (March 7).Â
