Buckeyes Drop Opener at Duke Invitational, Will Place Twice Tomorrow

Ohio State to face the host Blue Devils and Boston University on Saturday
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State suffered an 11-1 setback against Northwestern on Friday to open its weekend at the Duke Invitational. The Buckeyes will have a chance to bounce back tomorrow, however, as it takes on Boston University at 3 p.m. and the host Blue Devils immediately following at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Abbie Wilhelm hit her team-leading sixth home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning to give Ohio State an early 1-0 lead over the Wildcats, but NU was able to answer with four runs in the top of the third inning and seven in the top of the seventh.
Three pitchers saw action in the circle – freshman Jenna Molk, senior Kennedy Kay and sophomore Lorin Boutte. Molk got the start and lasted 3.2 innings, before giving way to Boutte, who struck out three batters in 2.1 innings of work. Kay recorded the final three outs in the seventh inning.
