
No. 13 Buckeyes Fall to No. 15 Lewis in Three Sets

Ohio State Continues Road Trip at No. 8 Loyola Chicago Sunday
COLUMBUS, Ohio— No. 13 Ohio State (9-5, 4-2) came up short against No. 15 Lewis (10-6, 3-3) on Thursday night in its first of two road games this weekend.

The Flyers took the first set with a score of 25-15. The second set was a close one before Lewis won it 25-23. After a hard-fought third set, the Flyers took the third set 25-20.

Daniel Hurley and Shane Wetzel led Ohio State in kills with seven each. Wetzel also led with seven digs for the Buckeyes.

Eliel Salva-Torres put up four kills, four digs, and two blocks. Hurley added two more blocks for the Buckeyes.

Hurley led Ohio State in service aces with two. Daniel Henwood Rodriguez, Salva-Torres and Wetzel added one apiece.

Set 1 (25-15, Lewis)
The Buckeyes started the first set with a 3-2 lead following a service ace by Shane Wetzel. The Flyers went on a small 4-1 run that gave them a 6-4 lead. Ohio State started to close the scoring gap with a kill by Wetzel, 8-7 Lewis. The Flyers extended their lead, 12-8. Daniel Hurley kept the Buckeyes in it with a kill, 14-11 Lewis. A kill by Daniel Henwood Rodriguez gave Ohio State some momentum out of the media timeout, 15-12. A great dig and kill by Hurley put the Buckeyes within three points of the Flyers, 18-15. Lewis pulled away, 22-15. The Flyers took set one, 25-15.

Set 2 (25-23, Lewis)
Eliel Salva-Torres put up a kill to start the second set strong for Ohio State, 1-all. The Flyers went on a short 4-2 run for a 5-3 lead. Consecutive service aces by Hurley tied the set at 5-all. Wetzel gave the Buckeyes their first lead of the set with a massive kill, 7-6. Stanislaw Chacinski continued the Ohio State lead with a kill of his own, 9-8. A huge block by Wetzel and Aaron Grimm gave the Buckeyes a two-point advantage 10-8. Great block coverage by both teams ended in a kill by Hurley to preserve Ohio State's lead, 11-10. A massive block by Wetzel and Salva-Torres continued the Buckeyes' lead, 13-11. The Flyers took a small lead, 15-13. Another kill by Salva-Torres kept Ohio State within three points, 17-14. Lewis continued their scoring run for a 19-15 lead before the Buckeyes' timeout. Grimm started to close the scoring gap with a huge kill out of the middle, 19-17. Another Ohio State service ace from Henwood Rodriguez put Ohio State within two points, 22-20. Grimm tied the set at 23-all with another kill. The Flyers took the second set 25-23.

Set 3 (25-20, Lewis)
Two errors by Lewis gave the Buckeyes a 2-0 lead to start the third set. The Flyers tied the set at 2-all. Salva-Torres and Wetzel had a huge block to put Ohio State within one point of Lewis, 4-3. Another kill by Chacinski kept the Buckeyes close to the Flyers, 6-5. Lewis went on a 4-1 run that extended the lead, 12-8. A kill by Wetzel got Ohio State within two points, 13-11. The Flyers continued their lead, 17-13. Grimm put up a kill that built some momentum for the Buckeyes, 19-15. Lewis built on the existing lead, 23-17. The Flyers took set three 25-20.
