COLUMBUS, Ohio— Following back-to-back sweeps of No. 8 Ball State and Purdue Fort Wayne last weekend, No. 13 Ohio State (9-4, 4-1) takes to the road for two major matchups at 8 p.m. Thursday at No. 15 Lewis (9-6, 2-3) and at 3 p.m. Sunday at No. 8 Loyola Chicago (8-4, 2-1).Â

In the current MIVA standings, No. 3 Ohio State is facing No. 6 Lewis and No. 4 Loyola Chicago in Illinois this week.

The Buckeyes are 37-34 all-time against the Flyers and 44-32 against the Ramblers.Â

The next home games for the Buckeyes will be March 5 vs No. 11 Lindenwood and March 7 vs No. 14 McKendree at the Covelli Center. The matchup against Lindenwood will be youth night, and it will be Hawaiian night against McKendree. Â

Eliel Salva-Torres was named both AVCA National Player of the Week and MIVA Offensive Player of the Week after hitting .905 with 19 kills on 21 swings and no errors over two games against Ball State and Purdue Fort Wayne. He also added 12 blocks. Salva-Torres is the 22nd Buckeye to earn AVCA National Player of the Week with the last being Jacob Pasteur Jan. 21, 2024. Â

Stanislaw Chacinski had 19 kills and 10 digs between the two matches last weekend. He continues to add to his 2026 season total of 123 kills.  Â

Drew Hudson put up 15 digs in the two matchups to total 103 so far this season.  Â

Following a team vote, Shane Wetzel and Hudson were named captains for the 2026 season. Hudson is the first sophomore to earn captain honors in the history of the program.  Â

Wetzel currently ranks 13th in Ohio State history with 1,150 kills for his career. He and sophomore Chacinski were named to the 2026 preseason All-MIVA squad.   Â

Wetzel and Chacinski both were recognized as 2025 AVCA Honorable Mention All-Americans after earning 2025 postseason Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association honors. In addition, the MIVA coaches voted Ohio State in the No. 2 position in the league 2026 preseason poll.   Â

In his seventh season, Kevin Burch achieved his 100th win as Ohio State's head coach (105-66) with the victory against Lincoln Memorial (3-0). Securing the win against the Railsplitters gave Burch win No. 100 to go with one regular-season MIVA title, a pair of league tournament championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances. Â
