Teams will meet Sunday in Stillwater
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 2 Ohio State women's tennis team will take on No. 25 Oklahoma State at noon ET Sunday in a nonconference match in Stillwater, Okla. The Buckeyes enter the match 7-1 (1-0 Big Ten), with the Cowgirls 3-3 (0-0 Big 12). Watch | Live Results

- The Buckeyes are ranked second in the ITA rankings for the second consecutive week, marking the first computer rankings of the year. Last week was the first time Ohio State was No. 2 since Feb. 21, 2023.
- The squad started the season No. 13 and was No. 12 in the second poll, moving to No. 10 Jan. 28.
- Two Buckeyes are in the Top 4 of the singles rankings this week.
- Teah Chavez moved to a personal best No. 2, with Luciana Perry No. 4.
- Chavez is the second Buckeye to be ranked in the Top 2, joining Francesca Di Lorenzo, who was as high as No. 1 in 2016 and '17.
- Perry was No. 3 last week to become the second Buckeye ranked in the Top 3 at the time, along with Di Lorenzo.
- Nao Nishino is No. 44, a personal best, with Audrey Spencer No. 68 and ranked for the first time since the preseason. Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev moved to a personal best No. 87.
- In doubles, the tandem of Hephzibah Oluwadare and Chavez is No. 17 this week after entering the rankings at No. 13. They were the eighth Buckeye duo to earn a spot in the Top 15.
- Flora Johnson and Perry are No. 36, up from No. 55 last week when they entered the rankings.
- Chavez and Perry have been ranked as a twosome since February 2025 and are currently No. 54.
- Nishino and Spencer are 58th and ranked for the first time as a team this year. Spencer and Perry are No. 60 and in the rankings as a duo for the first time since 2024 (when they were as high as No. 50).
Buckeyes vs. Cowgirls
- Ohio State is 5-3 all-time against Oklahoma State.
- Last season, the teams met in Columbus Feb. 23, 2025, a 4-0 Buckeye victory.
- The squads faced off in Stillwater Jan. 21, 2024, with the Cowgirls winning 4-1. The teams also met in Stillwater Jan. 26, 2020, a 4-3 Ohio State win in the ITA Kickoff Weekend championship match.
- Oklahoma State is 3-3 on the year. The squad claimed the ITA Kickoff Weekend championship in Lubbock, Texas, with wins over Wichita State and host Texas Tech. At National Indoors, the Cowgirls fell to NC State, 4-3, in the first round, defeated Northwestern in consolation 4-1 and then lost to Tennessee, 4-3. They also forfeited a match against Auburn because of illness.
- Three Cowgirls are in the ITA singles rankings this week – No. 24 Rose Marie Nijkamp, No. 45 Lucia Peyre and No. 40 Olivia Lincer. In doubles, Anastasiya Komar and Nijkamp are ranked 24th and Lincer and Marcela Lopez are 66th.
Perry Selected B1G Athlete of the Week
- Junior Luciana Perry was named the Big Ten Player of the Week Wednesday. Perry was 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles in two Buckeye wins last week.Â
- Against No. 8-ranked NC State, Perry and Audrey Spencer shut out the No. 16-ranked duo of Anna Zyryanova and Jasmine Conway on court two, 6-0. In singles, Perry defeated No. 36-ranked Mia Slama on court one, 6-2, 7-6 (5) for a 3-1 Ohio State lead. In the Big Ten opener on the road, Perry and Spencer led Olivia Dorner and Maelie Monfils on court one, 5-1, when doubles was clinched. In singles, Perry dropped just one game in each set on court one vs. Monfils for a 6-1, 6-1 win and a 2-0 Ohio State advantage.
Buckeye This and That
- Ohio State is 7-1 on the year, with the lone loss to No. 1 ranked Georgia, 4-3, in the ITA Indoor Championship final.
- Last week, the Buckeyes posted a home win over then-No. 8 NC State and downed Penn State in the Big Ten opener, with both victories 5-2.
- In dual matches, Teah Chavez and Audrey Spencer lead the Buckeyes with a 6-0 ledger. Spencer has won her last 10 completed matches. Nao Nishino and Luciana Perry both have five dual wins. Overall, Nishino has a team-best 19 victories this year.
- As a team, the Buckeyes are 6-0 on court one this spring, with 5-1 marks on courts two, four and five. Court six is 5-3 and court three is 3-4.
