Buckeyes Open Spring with Solid Finish at Puerto Rico Classic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State opened the spring portion of the season with a solid sixth place finish in a strong field at the Puerto Rico Classic this week. All five Buckeyes finished the 54-hole event under.
In Wednesday’s final round, the Buckeyes carded an even-par round of 288 and finished the event at 28-under par.
Sophomore Timotej Formanek posted three under-par rounds of 69-69-70 to finish in a tie for 18th at 8-under par. This was the second tournament of his young career with three under-par rounds.
Vaughn Harber and Tyler Sabo each finished a shot behind Formanek at 7-under par and tied for 23rd. Sabo made 18 birdies for the week, which was the most birdies he’s made in any event in his career. Harber opened the tournament with a career-low 65 on Monday, finishing the week with 14 birdies.
Joe Wilson IV closed the tournament with an even-par 72 on Wednesday and finished at 4-under par. Jack Vojtko followed his lowest round of the year, a 5-under 67 on Monday, with rounds of 73-75 and finished at 1-under par.
The Buckeye will be right back to action next week at the Watersound Invitational in Panama City Beach, Fla., at the Shark’s Tooth Golf Club. The 54-hole event will run Feb. 16-18.
