Nellie Ong Set to Represent Team England at 2025 World Amateur Team Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sophomore Nellie Ong is gearing up to represent Team England at the 2025 World Amateur Team Championship. The prestigious tournament will take place from October 1–4 at Tanah Merah Country Club in Singapore, bringing together top amateur golfers from around the world to compete on an international stage.
At the 2025 World Amateur Team Championships in Singapore, 36 men's teams and 36 women's teams from across the globe will compete.
Ong has established herself nationally, having previously competed in both the European Ladies' Amateur Championship and the Women's Amateur Championship. She also finished second at the Helen Holm Scottish Women's Open, the Scottish Girls' Open Championship, and the 2023 English Women's Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship.
Her success as a Buckeye has further elevated Ong's athletic resume. As a freshman, she competed in 12 events and finished the season with a 73.03 scoring average. She earned her best finish at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational, placing fourth with a score of 215 (-1). Ong also tied for sixth at NCAA Regionals at the OSU Scarlet Course with a 54-hole score of 215 (-1) and tied for ninth in her collegiate debut at the Folds of Honor Collegiate with a score of 219 (+3).
Prior to Ohio State, Ong was selected to the 2023–24 England Women's National Team. She was named Golfer of the Year twice and also earned the Outstanding Athlete Award. She won the Welsh Women's Open Stroke Play Championship and was a three-time Suffolk Schools Girls Champion, as well as the South East Schools Champion in 2022.
