
Ong and Eppelstun Earn All-Big Ten Accolades

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State sophomore Nellie Ong and freshman Sophie Eppelstun have earned All-Bog Ten honors this season. Ong was named to the first team while Eppelstun earned second team honors and was named to the All-Freshman team.
For Ong, this is her second consecutive year being named All-Big Ten. She earned second team accolades last season. The Norwich, England native leads the team with a 72.89 scoring average and five Top 20 finishes. She has posted three Top 5 finishes, including runner-up at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational and winning the silver medal at the Big Ten Championship. Ong has made a team-high 78 birdies and 26 of her 27 rounds have counted towards the team score.
Eppelstun has had a great freshman season. She too has notched three Top 5 finished as part of her four Top 20 finishes. She is second to Ong with 67 birdies on the year and is coming off a fifth-place finish at the Big Ten Championship. She carded a pair of 70s at the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational en route to a third-place finish. Eppelstun was also named the team’s Sportsmanship Award honoree. Those athletes have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, the honorees must be in good academic standing and must have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
The Buckeyes will return to action at the NCAA Regionals on May 11-13. Their regional site will be announced on the Golf Channel on April 29 at 4 p.m.
