Ohio State Finishes 2nd, Two Buckeyes in the Top 5 at Big Ten Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State recorded its 27th top-two finish at the Big Ten Tournament this weekend, placing runner-up after closing with a final-round team score of 289. This was Ohio State's best Big Ten Tournament finish since they won the championship in 2019.
Junior Nellie Ong spurred Ohio State on with an impressive showing, earning individual runner-up honors. She capped the weekend with a 69 (-1) in the final round, highlighted by a birdie on her closing hole. Ong totaled nine birdies across the tournament, including four in the final round alone, and led the entire field in par-4 scoring at better than 3-under.
Freshman Sophie Eppelstun also turned in a strong performance, finishing tied for 5th place at 3-over overall. She posted a final-round 73 (+3), also wrapping the tournament up with a closing-hole birdie.
Fellow freshman Matilde Santilli contributed with a solid finish, carding a 73 (+3) in the final round to secure 14th place overall. Mandy Song made one of the biggest moves of the day, climbing nine spots in the standings behind a 74 (+4) to finish tied for 42nd. Kary Hollenbaugh rounded out the lineup, also tying for 42nd after recording a 79 (+9) in the final round.
The Buckeyes are up again on Monday, May 11th – Wednesday, May 13th to compete in the NCAA Regionals.
