Ohio State will host LSU next weekend
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 4 seed Ohio State women's tennis team dropped the doubles point but posted four straight-set singles wins to defeat Notre Dame, 4-1, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. The Buckeyes, who are now 23-3 on the year, are moving on to the NCAA Super Regionals and the No. 23-ranked Irish end their season 21-6.

Ohio State will be making its fourth appearance in the NCAA third round and the first since 2023 when it fell on the road at Stanford. This is the first time the Buckeyes will host a Super Regional match since the format moved to campus sites for the third round in 2022.

The Buckeyes will host No. 13 LSU in a Super Regional match next Friday or Saturday, with the exact date and time determined Sunday evening. The match is scheduled to be played outdoors in the Auer Tennis Complex but will be moved inside the Ty Tucker Tennis Center in the event of inclement weather. Admission and parking are free.

The Buckeyes duo of Teah Chavez and Luciana Perry won on court one to open doubles but the Irish took courts two and three for the doubles point. Ohio State went on to capture the first set on all six singles courts.

Audrey Spencer and Shelly Bereznyak won quickly in straight sets for a 2-1 Ohio State advantage. Perry put the Buckeyes up 3-1 with a court two victory, winning the final five games of her match. Chavez clinched the victory on court one. After winning the first set 6-2, Chavez was down 5-0 in the second. The sophomore rallied and won seven straight games for the set and match to send the Buckeyes on to the next round.

- The Irish tied doubles with a 6-3 court three win and then pulled away late on court two for a 6-3 victory to take the doubles point.
- Ohio State claimed the first set on all six singles courts.
- Audrey Spencer tied the match at one, as she dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Maria Olivia Castedo on court six, winning the final six games.
- On court five, Shelly Bereznyak put the Buckeyes in the lead, as she topped Rylie Hanford, 6-3, 6-2. She used a four-game run to take control of the match in the first set and opened the second set with a 4-0 lead.
- Perry put the Buckeyes a point away, as she defeated Bianca Molnar, 6-3, 6-4, on court two. The Buckeye jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first set. In the second, Molnar was ahead 4-1 but Perry claimed the final five games for the win.
- Chavez clinched the team victory, downing Matsuno, 6-2, 7-5, on court one. Chavez led 4-0 to start the first set. Matsuno won the next two games but a break and a hold gave the Buckeye the set. In the second, Chavez rallied from a 5-0 hole to take the set and match, winning seven straight games.
- Sydni Ratliff and Nao Nishino won their first sets on courts three and four, respectively. Ratliff was on serve at three and Nishino was up a break 4-3 when the team match was clinched.
- Perry leads the Buckeyes with an 18-3 dual ledger, with Bereznyak 17-4. Chavez is 13-1 and Spencer is 10-6 this spring.
- Chavez and Perry are 16-6 as a doubles duo.
