- The Ohio State women's lacrosse team is back in Columbus to host No. 5 Johns Hopkins Thursday.
- The teams will face off at 6 p.m. in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium. Admission and parking are free.
- The matchup will be televised by BTN and available on the Fox Sports app.
- Thursday is the Buckeyes' Morgan's Message game. The organization strives to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health within the student-athlete community and equalize the treatment of physical and mental health in athletics.
- It is also Pups at the Pitch night and fans are welcome to bring their canine companions to help cheer on the Buckeyes.
- The Buckeyes are 8-4 on the year, coming off an overtime loss at Penn State last Sunday, with a 1-4 B1G mark. Johns Hopkins is 9-3 overall and has a 3-1 B1G ledger, with a loss to Northwestern in its last time out. Â
- The series between Ohio State and Johns Hopkins dates to 2002, with the teams first competing as conference foes in the American Lacrosse Conference before the Big Ten began sponsoring women's lacrosse, adding JHU as an affiliate member.
- Last season, Johns Hopkins posted a 15-5 win at home over the Buckeyes March 23, 2024 The last meeting in Columbus was an 11-8 JHU victory March 18, 2023.Â
- The Blue Jays are scoring 14.17 goals a game and allowing 11.25 per outing.
- Junior goalie Jocelyn Torres was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List and an Inside Lacrosse Midseason Third Team All-American after an outstanding start to the season.Â
- Torres ranks sixth nationally in save percentage (.520) and goals-against average (8.17).
- She has 104 saves, with just 96 goals allowed, through her first 12 games as a Buckeye, with an 8-4 record.Â
Buckeye This and That
- Ohio State is in a stretch of three games in eight days, with a contest at Penn State last Sunday, Thursday's game vs. Johns Hopkins and a game at Maryland Sunday.
- The Buckeyes are sixth in the NCAA in scoring defense, allowing 8.17 goals per game. The team has allowed double-digit goals just three times this season.
- The Buckeyes rank third nationally in clearing percentage (.948) on the year.
- Katie Kaucheck, Ella Wright, Lilli Sherman and Audrey Schoemer have all started the first 12 games on defense.
- Sherman leads the Buckeyes with 21 caused turnovers. She has at least two caused turnovers in seven games this season, including in each of the last three outings.
- Sherman, Kampbell Stone and Emily Magalotti are all tied for the team lead with 19 ground balls each.Â
- Kaucheck and Stone are second on the squad with 12 caused turnovers each.Â
- Brynn Ammerman paces the Buckeyes with 36 assists and 47 points. She is on a 15-game point streak (14g, 40a, 55p). Ammerman has two or more assists in all but one game this year and is 12th in the NCAA in assists, ranking 10th nationally with a B1G-best 3.00 Â assists per game.Â
- Ammerman had three assists at Rutgers March 30 to cross the 100-point mark for her Buckeye career. She has 104 points for the Scarlet and Gray, with 36 goals and 68 assists in 43 games.
- Ammerman's seven-assist game vs. Akron Feb. 26 is tied for the eighth-most in a single game this season in the NCAA and tied for fourth in program history. She also had a hat trick vs. the Zips for a 10-point day, tied for the sixth-most in the NCAA this year and tying for fourth in school history.
- Zoe Coleman has at least one goal in 16 of the last 17 games. After a four-goal outing last time out at Penn State, she now has 53 goals in her 46-game career, adding 21 assists for 74 points. Coleman is second on the squad with a career-high 24 goals this year. Her 24 goals have come on 38 shots and she is seventh nationally with a .737 shooting percentage.
- Stone has at least one goal in 10 of 12 games this season. She has 23 goals this year to rank third on the team. Stone has 10 multiple goal outings at Ohio State (seven this season), with 37 goals and 38 points in 29 career games.
- After a four-goal and five-point game at Penn State, Kate Tyack now has at least one goal in 11 of the last 12 games. On the year, Tyack has a team-best 29 goals and is second with 34 points, both career highs. She has 15 games with two or more goals through her first 29 collegiate games and has 65 points, with 53 goals and 12 assists, as a Buckeye.Â
- Makena Harrington has at least one goal in five of the last six games, with nine in the stretch, and 10 goals on the year. She has added three assists for 13 points, along with 13 draw controls.
- Emily Magalotti has eight points, with six goals, this season, picking up 19 ground balls and recording 30 draw controls to rank second on the squad. Magalotti is nearing the career-best 32 draw controls she had a season ago.
- Leah Sax has at least one point in 11 of 12 games this season. She is third on the team with 27 points, ranking fourth in goals (16) and second in assists with a career-high 11. After just three appearances and one goal through her first three years at Ohio State, Sax has 46 goals, 18 assists and 64 points in the 29 games since the start of 2024.
- Annie Hargraves has nine goals in her last six games combined, including a hat trick at Oregon. She has 14 goals on the year and 51 in her career. She picked up her second career assist at Penn State and now has 53 points in 46 career games.
- Freshman Abby Boyle leads the Buckeyes with 38 draw controls and has four games with five or more, including last time out at Penn State.
- The Buckeyes will play at No. 9 Maryland at 1 p.m. Sunday before closing out the regular season at home vs. No. 3 Northwestern at 1 p.m. April 19 on Senior Day.
- Admission and parking are free for all regular season home games in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
