COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team (8-21) was defeated by Kent State (20-11), 8-3, on Wednesday at Bill Davis Stadium.

- The Golden Flashes took the lead in the top of the first, 2-0, after a two-run home run.
- Matthew Graveline led off with a double to left center in the bottom of the second. With two outs on the board, Maddix Simpson singled to left center to send Graveline home and cut the Kent State lead in half, 2-1.
- The Golden Flashes scored on an RBI double in the top of the third inning to get back ahead by two, 3-1.
- An RBI double for Kent State in the top of the fourth put them ahead of the Buckeyes, 4-1.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning, Reggie Bussey led off with an infield single, and he advanced to second base on a wild pitch. A single from Simpson advanced Bussey to third base and he scored on a Kent State error to put the Buckeyes back within two, 4-2.
- An RBI groundout and an RBI single for the Golden Flashes in the top of the fifth inning and a two-RBI double in the sixth extended their lead, 8-2.
- Nick Giamarusti reached base after being hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the sixth. He advanced all the way to third base on a failed pick-off attempt and then scored on a sac fly from Bussey to put the Buckeyes within five runs of Kent State, 8-3.
- In the bottom of the seventh with two outs, pinch hitter Will Carpenter doubled down the right field line, but he was stranded.
- Trey Lipsey was walked with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but the Golden Flashes turned a double play to end the game.
- Simpson led the Buckeyes in hits with three, which is a career-high.
- Bussey and Simpson both had one RBI.
- Zak Sigman (0-1) took the loss. He gave up two runs on two hits.
- Douglas Bauer tossed 4.1 innings of relief and struck out four, tying his career-high.
- The Buckeyes host Minnesota for a three-game Big Ten series Friday, April 11-Sunday, April 13.
