COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team (8-22, 2-11 Big Ten) was defeated by Minnesota (14-17, 3-10 Big Ten), 10-5, on Friday at Bill Davis Stadium.

- Tyler Pettorini and Lee Ellis hit back-to-back singles in the bottom of the first but were left stranded.
- Minnesota took a 4-0 lead after a grand slam in the top of the second inning.
- In the bottom of the second, Will Carpenter went yard over the right field wall to cut the Golden Gopher lead to three, 4-1.
- In the top of the third inning, Minnesota plated two runs to take a 6-1 lead over the Buckeyes.
- A fielder's choice from Alonzo Paul Jr. sent Matthew Graveline home in the bottom of the fourth to bring the Buckeyes within four runs of Minnesota, 6-2.
- The Buckeyes plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth after an RBI double from Graveline, an RBI triple from Carpenter and a score on a wild pitch to cut the Golden Gopher lead to one, 6-5.
- The Golden Gophers scored two more runs in the top of the eighth inning to extend their lead to three, 8-5.
- Minnesota grabbed another two runs off a Buckeye error and an RBI single in the top of the ninth to take a 10-5 lead over the Buckeyes.
- With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Mason Eckelman singled to left field, but he was left on base as the Golden Gophers earned the win.
- Carpenter was a double shy of the cycle as he led the Buckeyes in RBIs with two and recorded a career-high in hits with three.
- Drew Erdmann took the loss (0-4). He gave up five runs on three hits and struck out three.
- Ryan Butler pitched 3.2 innings of relief, allowing one run on five hits while striking out three batters.
- The Buckeyes continue their series with Minnesota Saturday, April 12-Sunday, April 13.
