Ohio State will face Lindenwood in the MIVA quarterfinals next Saturday in Columbus

The win in the regular season finale placed the Buckeyes tied for third place in the final MIVA standings. Ohio State won the tiebreaker with Lewis with five set victories to four in the regular-season series.

The top four teams in the final league standings earn the right to host a quarterfinal match in the postseason conference tournament. No. 3 Ohio State will take on No. 6 Lindenwood at 5 p.m. April 19 at the Covelli Center. The match will be streamed live on B1G+. Ticket information will be available Monday.Â

Against the Hawks, Ohio State won by scores of 28-26, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20.

Shane Wetzel recorded 11 digs to reach 400 for his career. He also led the team in kills with 20. He had 20 kills Friday as well against the Hawks.

Freshman Stanislaw Chacinski finished with 14 kills to reach 300 for the season.

Setter Daniel Henwood Rodriguez paced the Buckeyes with 32 assists.

Freshman libero Drew Hudson recorded six digs to reach the 100 mark on the year.

How it Happened

Set 1 (OSU, 28-26)
Kyle Teune started things off with a kill followed by a Quincy error for a 2-0 lead. The Hawks then used a 4-0 run to take a 5-3 lead. The Buckeyes made it 6-all on a Shane Wetzel kill. A Stanislaw Chacinski kill put Ohio State back on top 8-7. A 3-0 Quincy run made it 10-8 Hawks. Ohio State tied it at 10-all and started a back-and-forth affair with the Hawks without either team gaining separation. A 3-0 run by the Buckeyes, capped by a Daniel Henwood Rodriguez ace made it 15-14 Ohio State. The Hawks took a 21-19 lead before an Ohio State timeout. Quincy then took a timeout after a Chacinski kill, his 300th of the season, made it 22-21 Hawks. Ohio State scored the next two to take a 23-22 lead before Quincy took its final timeout of the set. A Chacinski kill made it 24-23 before a Quincy kill sent the set to overtime. The Buckeyes called a timeout to talk things over. The teams traded points until kills by Chacinski and Wetzel earned the set with for the Buckeyes, 28-26. Chacinski led the way with eight kills,

Set 2 (OSU, 25-20)
The second set started much like the latter part of the first with neither team taking control. Ohio State took a 9-7 lead on a Cole Young kill. The Buckeyes maintained a lead and went up 14-11 on a DHR ace after a Quincy error. The Hawks took a timeout before a Wetzel kill upped the lead to 15-11. Kills from Thomas Leahey and Wetzel increased the advantage to 17-12. The Buckeyes were the first to 20 (20-16) after a Quincy service error. Kohl Kutsch, in at setter, earned a kill for a 22-17 lead for the Buckeyes. Ohio State called a timeout after the Hawks cut the lead to 22-19. Young came out of the break with a kill before a Wetzel cross court blast and a another from the middle eared the set win for Ohio State, 25-20. Wetzel took the team lead in kills with 13 overall while hitting .455.

Set 3 (QU, 25-22) Â
Quincy quickly got out to a 6-1 lead. The Buckeyes started to chip away at the deficit with a Thomas Leahey kill to make it 9-5 Hawks. A couple Quincy errors made it 10-7 Hawks. Chacinski kills around a Quincy error cut it to 12-11 Hawks. Quincy took a 16-13 lead on a 3-1 run before an Ohio State timeout. Ohio scored twice after the break but the Hawks countered with two as well to lead 17-15. The Buckeyes then tied it at 17-all on a Wetzel kill and Quincy attack error. The Hawks called a timeout after a Chacinski kill evened the set at 19-all. The Buckeyes scored the next two after the stoppage to lead 21-19. Quincy used its final timeout and scored the next three points to take a 22-21 lead. The Buckeyes then called their final timeout before a Quincy service error tied it at 22-all. Quincy reached set point with a kill and Ohio State error. The Hawks then got the win, 25-22. Â Â

Set 4 (OSU, 25-20) Â
Consecutive errors by the Hawks tied the set at 5-all. Points were traded until a couple Quincy errors put the Buckeyes up 11-9. Another Hawks error and a Chacinski kill upped the lead to 14-11 Buckeyes. Quincy called timeout and scored two of the next three to make it 15-13 Buckeyes. A 3-0 run for the Buckeyes made it 19-16 Ohio State before a Quincy timeout. A Young kill and Wetzel ace made it 21-17. Chacinski made it 23-18 Buckeyes with a kill. Young set up match point with a kill of his own at 24-19. Ohio State called timeout with a 24-20 lead. The Buckeyes got the set and match win after on a Quincy service error.
