Ohio State in a stretch of three games in eight days
The Basics
Ohio State lost to No. 5 Johns Hopkins, 16-6, Thursday in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium in Columbus.Â
The Blue Jays notched the game's first two goals and the Buckeyes answered for a 2-2 game. Hopkins scored three goals before the end of the first quarter for a 5-2 lead and pushed the advantage to 7-3 at the half.Â
Ohio State made it a three-goal game (8-5) entering the fourth quarter but Hopkins opened the quarter on a six-goal run to take control.
Zoe Coleman led the Buckeyes with two goals and Leah Sax posted two assists, with Brynn Ammerman notching a goal and an assist for two points.Â

- The Ohio State women's lacrosse team hits the road for a Big Ten game at No. 9 Maryland Sunday.
- The teams will face off at 1 p.m. at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex in College Park, Md.
- The matchup will be streamed through B1G+ and live statistics wil be available through OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
- The Buckeyes are 8-5 on the year, coming off a loss to No. 5 Johns Hopkins Thursday in Columbus, with a 1-5 B1G mark. Maryland is 9-4 overall and has a 4-1 conference record. The Terps fell to No. 11 Virginia Wednesday in Baltimore in their last game.
- The series between Ohio State and Maryland started in 2001 and Sunday will be the 10th game between the teams in College Park.Â
- Last year, Ohio State fell at home to the Terrapins, 12-6, March 16, 2024.
- The teams met twice on the Terps' home field in 2023. Maryland won in the regular season, 18-7, and in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals, 11-7.

- Junior goalie Jocelyn Torres was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List and an Inside Lacrosse Midseason Third Team All-American after an outstanding start to the season.Â
- Torres ranks eighth nationally in save percentage (.507) and goals-against average (8.78).
- She has 115 saves through her first 13 games as a Buckeye, with an 8-5 record, including four games with double-digit stops.Â

- The Buckeyes are eighth in the NCAA in scoring defense, allowing 8.77 goals per game. The team has allowed double-digit goals just four times this season.
- The Buckeyes rank fifth nationally in clearing percentage (.940) on the year.
- Katie Kaucheck, Ella Wright, Lilli Sherman and Audrey Schoemer all started the first 13 games on defense.
- Sherman leads the Buckeyes with 22 caused turnovers. She has at least two caused turnovers in seven games this season, including in three of the last four outings.
- Goalie Jocelyn Torres matched her Ohio State career high with four ground balls vs. Johns Hopkins and now leads the team with 21. Sherman, Kampbell Stone and Emily Magalotti are all tied for second with 19 ground balls each.Â
- Kaucheck is second on the squad with 13 caused turnovers, followed by Stone with 12.Â
- Brynn Ammerman paces the Buckeyes with 37 assists and 49 points. She is on a 16-game point streak (15g, 41a, 57p). Ammerman has two or more assists in all but two game this year and is 13th in the NCAA in assists and assists per game with a B1G-best 2.85 per contest.Â
- Ammerman has passed the career-best assist (28) Â and point (48) totals she recorded last year. Her 37 assists are the most for a Buckeye in a single season since Jackie Cifarelli had 54 in 2015 and rank ninth for a single season in Ohio State history.Â
- Ammerman had three assists at Rutgers March 30 to cross the 100-point mark for her Buckeye career. She has 106 points for the Scarlet and Gray, with 37 goals and 69 assists in 44 games. Her 69 assists rank fifth in program history.Â
- Zoe Coleman has at least one goal in 17 of the last 18 games. After scoring twice vs. Johns Hopkins, she now has 55 goals in her 47-game career, adding 21 assists for 76 points. Coleman is second on the squad with a career-high 26 goals this year. Her 26 goals have come on 42 shots and she is seventh in the NCAA with a .619 shooting percentage.
- Freshman Abby Boyle leads the Buckeyes with 44 draw controls and has five games with five or more, including six vs. Johns Hopkins Thursday.
- Kate Tyack has at least one goal in 12 of the last 13 games, held scoreless only vs. USC. On the year, Tyack has a team-best 30 goals and is second with 35 points, both career highs. She has 15 games with two or more goals through her first 30 collegiate games and has 66 points, with 54 goals and 12 assists, as a Buckeye.Â
- Leah Sax has at least one point in 12 of 13 games this season. She is third on the team with 29 points, ranking fourth in goals (16) and second in assists with a career-high 13, including two vs. Johns Hopkins Thursday. After just three appearances and one goal through her first three years at Ohio State, Sax has 46 goals, 20 assists and 66 points in the 30 games since the start of 2024.
- Stone has at least one goal in 10 of 13 games this season. She has 23 goals this year to rank third on the team. Stone has 10 multiple goal outings at Ohio State (seven this season), with 37 goals and 38 points in 30 career games.
- Makena Harrington has at least one goal in five of the last seven games, with nine in the stretch, and 10 goals on the year. She has added three assists for 13 points, along with 13 draw controls.
- Emily Magalotti has eight points, with six goals, this season, picking up 19 ground balls and recording a career-high 33 draw controls to rank second on the squad. She had 32 draw controls a season ago.
- Annie Hargraves has at least one goal in 10 of 13 games this year. She has 15 goals on the year and 52 in her career. She picked up her second career assist at Penn State April 6 and now has 54 points in 47 career games.
- The Buckeyes will close out the regular season at home vs. No. 3 Northwestern at 1 p.m. April 19 on Senior Day. Admission and parking are free.
