Set 1 (OSU, 26-24)
The Highlanders jumped to a 4-0 lead to start the match following three Buckeye errors and an ace from Alessandro Negri. A kill from Kyle Teune put Ohio State on the board, but three consecutive scores from NJIT lifted the score to 7-1 and the Buckeyes took their first timeout. After the break, the Highlanders kept a steady lead, but an NJIT error closed the gap for the Scarlet and Gray to bring the score to 13-12. A 5-2 NJIT run gave the Highlanders an 18-14 lead, forcing the Buckeyes into their final timeout. Ohio State went on a 5-1 run and tied it at 19-all after a kill from Teune. A pair of kills from Teune and one from Chacinski brought the score to 22-21 Buckeyes. The Highlanders tied it at 23-all after an Ohio State attacking error. The score was tied again at 24-all, but kills from Chacinski and Wetzel gave Ohio State the set 26-24 and a 1-0 lead in the match.
