Ohio State won by scores of 25-22, 25-15, 25-19.

The Buckeyes were led in kills by Shane Wetzel with nine. Kyle Teune added eight with Stanislaw Chacinski contributing six.
Chacinski also had four aces and six digs to lead the Buckeyes.
Freshman setter Daniel Henwood Rodriguez recorded 25 assists in the contest to lead both squads. He stands at 498 total assists for the season.
Cole Young guarded the middle in recording seven blocks while DHR added five.Â
How it Happened
Set 1 (OSU, 25-22)
The Highlanders started quickly in building a 5-1 lead. The Buckeyes started work on a comeback with kills by Kyle Teune and Stanislaw Chacinski to make it 7-4 NJIT. An ace by Daniel Henwood Rodriguez made it 8-6 Highlanders. NJIT increased its lead to 11-7 with a 3-1 run. A 4-1 run by the Buckeyes made it 12-11. Ohio State tied it at 13-all on a pair of Highlander errors. NJIT led 15-14 at the media timeout. A Shane Wetzel kill and an ace by DHR put the Buckeyes on top 16-14 after the break. The Highlanders then scored the next three points for an 18-16 advantage. The Buckeyes went back on top, 19-18, with a 3-0 run culminated by a Chacinski ace. NJIT called timeout and tied it quickly with a kill and went up 20-19 on an Ohio State error. The Highlanders called their final timeout after an Ohio State 3-0 run gave the Buckeyes a 22-20 advantage. Ohio State got the first point after the stoppage for a 23-20 lead and a Wetzel kill led to set point at 24-21. The Buckeyes then got the win, 25-22, after an NJIT service error. Â

Set 2 (OSU, 25-15)
The set started with each team exchanging points without separation until a Teune kill and block combo by DHR and Cole Young put Ohio State up 8-6. NJIT tied it at 11-all before another Ohio State block, a Wetzel kill and Chacinski ace made it 14-11 Buckeyes. A Wetzel kill led to the media timeout with the Buckeyes leading 15-12 after a 4-1 run. Wetzel came out swinging after the break with a kill before a Highlanders error put Ohio State up 17-12. A kill by Young followed by a DHR/Young block combo made it 19-13. A Wetzel ace led to an NJIT timeout with the Buckeyes leading 20-13. DHR then added a solo block and then another combined rejection with Young for a 22-13 lead. Ohio State then finished off the set to win 25-15. Wetzel owned the team lead with eight kills after two sets. Â

Set 3 (OSU, 25-19)
Again the set started neck-and-neck before a 4-0 run by the Buckeyes put Ohio State up 8-5. A Chacinki kill and block by Young and Wetzel made it 10-6 Ohio State. NJIT responded with a 3-0 run to cut the lead to 10-9. The Highlanders used a 3-0 run to tie the set at 12-all. Teune added a kill and then an ace for a 14-12 lead for the Buckeyes. At the media timeout, Ohio State led 15-14. The Highlanders tied it at 15-all after the break with a kill. The Buckeyes responded with the next three points on a pair of NJIT errors and a DHR ace for an 18-15 lead. A Chacinski ace made it 20-16 Buckeyes before a Highlanders timeout. An Aaron Grimm kill made it 21-17. NJIT used its final timeout after a net violation upped Ohio State's lead to 22-17. A Young kill out of the break upped the advantage to 23-17. An NJIT service error led to match point before the Buckeyes earned the victory 25-19 on another Highlander service error.
