No. 21 Buckeyes Back Home to Take on Bearcats

The Basics
- The No. 21 Ohio State women's lacrosse team will host Cincinnati at 3 p.m. Friday in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
- Admission and parking are free.
- It is the Buckeyes' Inclusion Game and there will be a hairclip giveaway.
- The game will be streamed through B1G+ and live statistics will be HERE.
- The Buckeyes enter the game 5-0 on the year, with the Bearcats 4-3.
- The Buckeyes are 10-2 all-time against Cincinnati.
- Last year, Cincinnati won on its home field, 13-11, April 5, 2024.
- The last matchup in Columbus was an Ohio State 13-12 overtime win Feb. 28, 2023.
- The programs met each year from 2015-2020 before the streak was ended in 2021 when Ohio State played only Big Ten games in the regular season.
- Gina Thomas (Oliver), the Bearcats' head coach, was a three-time All-American for the Buckeyes and is the program's all-time leader in ground balls (236) and caused turnovers (201), ranking fifth in draw controls (121) and ninth in career points (166).
- Cincinnati, a member of the Big 12, is 4-3 on the year and has won its last three games – at Kent State, vs. Xavier and at Central Michigan. The year started with losses to Vanderbilt and at Louisville before a win vs. Robert Morris and a loss at home to Marquette.
- Ohio State was a 15-5 winner at Robert Morris last Saturday.
- The Buckeyes led 3-1 after the first quarter and 6-2 at halftime, with three goals in each of the first two quarters. Ohio State took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Colonials 4-0 and not allowing a shot attempt. The Buckeyes scored the first eight goals of the second half and held Robert Morris scoreless for a 22:24 stretch. Ohio State tallied five times in the fourth quarter and the Colonials scored twice for the 15-5 final.
- Leah Sax had four goals and six points for the Buckeyes and Brynn Ammerman notched four assists and five points. Kate Tyack and Maddy Paz each tallied twice. Emily Magalotti recorded two goals, three draw controls and two ground balls, Lexie Kupka had a Buckeye-best four draw controls and Lilli Sherman had three of the Buckeyes' 17 caused turnovers.
- Goalie Jocelyn Torres was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List this week after an outstanding start to the season.
- She has 42 saves, with just 26 goals allowed, through her first five games as a Buckeye.
- Torres ranks first nationally in save percentage (.618) and is fourth in goals-against average (5.51).
- Ohio State's 5-0 start is the best since the 2012 squad won its first five games. The 2002 team holds the record with a 6-0 start to the season.
- In the national polls this week, Ohio State is No. 21 in the IWLCA coaches poll and the IL Women media poll and No. 19 in the USA Lacrosse rankings.
- The Buckeyes are fourth nationally in scoring defense, allowing 5.6 goals per game. Katie Kaucheck, Ella Wright, Lilli Herman and Audrey Schoemer have all started the first five games on defense.
- Sherman has a team-high nine caused turnovers, including a career-high tying three last Saturday at Robert Morris. Schoemer is first on the team with 12 ground balls, followed by Kampbell Stone with nine and Sherman with eight.
- Brynn Ammerman leads the Buckeyes with 18 assists and 24 points. She is on an eight-game point streak (9g, 23a, 32p). She has two or more assists in each game this year and is 10th in the NCAA in assists, ranking sixth in assists per game (3.60).
- Ammerman, who had four assists and five points last time out, has seven games with five or more points as a Buckeye and 14 multiple-assist outings. Last season, she led the Buckeyes with 28 assists. She had seven assists and 10 points last week vs. Akron, tying for fourth in program history for single-game assists and points (one shy of the program record for each).
- Zoe Coleman has a point in each of her last 11 games (18g, 21p) and a goal in seven straight, with 14 goals in the stretch. Coleman has notched 40 goals in her 39-game career, adding 19 assists for 59 points. She ranks second on the squad with 11 goals this year and is fifth nationally in shooting percentage (.733).
- Kate Tyack has 12 goals in her last four games combined, with four vs. both Louisville and Vanderbilt and two tallies against Akron and Robert Morris. Tyack has 11 games with two or more goals through her first 22 collegiate games and has 45 points, with 37 goals and eight assists, as a Buckeye. Tyack has a team-high 12 goals this season.
- Leah Sax had a career-high tying four goals at Robert Morris, adding two assists for a career-best six points. She has at least one point in four of five games this season and is third with 13 points, on eight goals and five assists.
- Stone has at least one goal in each game on the year and total to tie for third on the team.
- Emily Magalotti had her third career two-goal game and first of of the season last week at Robert Morris. She leads the Buckeyes with 14 draw control and Stone is second with 11.
- The Buckeyes rank fifth nationally in clearing percentage (.943).
- The Buckeyes will head to the west coast for two games next week,
- Big Ten play opens at Oregon at 8 p.m. ET March 12, with the game televised by BTN.
- The squad's last nonconference game will be at 3 p.m. ET at San Diego State March 15.
- Ohio State will return home to host USC at noon March 23, followed by a game vs. Michigan at 6 p.m. March 27.
- Admission and parking are free for all regular season home games in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
