Buckeyes win their third consecutive game, improve to 21-6-1 on the season
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State's offense picked up right where it left off this past weekend, as the Buckeyes scored three times in the first inning, three more times in the second and then plated four runs in the third inning for a 10-0 run-rule victory over Green Bay on Monday afternoon.
The win, which was Ohio State's seventh in the last nine games, improves the Buckeyes' record to 21-6-1. Green Bay falls to 6-12. The Buckeyes are also now 8-2 on their 11-game homestand, which concludes on Wednesday afternoon versus Youngstown State.
How It Happened
- The Buckeyes got on the board quickly, scoring three runs in the first inning off a Kami Kortokrax RBI single and a two-run RBI double off the bat of Jasmyn Burns.
- In the following inning, Burns recorded her 10th home run of the season, a two-run shot that put the Buckeyes in front by five. With the bases loaded, Skylar Limon later walked to score Reagan Milliken and when the inning ended, Ohio State led 6-0.
- In the 3rd inning, Kami Kortokrax and Kaitlyn Farley joined the home run party, hitting respective two-run shots to put the Ohio State lead at 10-0.
- The 10 runs of offense proved to be more than sufficient for freshman Kassandra Gewecke, who finished the game in five innings. Gewecke got the start and the win in the circle, going the entire game without allowing a run while striking out three. The victory was Gewecke's third of the season.
- Burns and Kortokrax combined to go 4-for-6 at the plate with two home runs, a double and seven RBI. Farley also had a multi-hit game, going 2-for-2 with two RBI.
