Ohio State now 8-2, heads to Michigan State Sunday
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 10 Ohio State women's tennis team dropped a heartbreaker on the road against No. 6 Michigan, 4-3, Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Buckeyes won the doubles point and first two singles matches in straight sets, but the Wolverines rallied for the victory, capped off by two three-set wins.

Ohio State is now 8-2 on the year and 2-1 in Big Ten play and Michigan improves to 10-3, with a 3-0 league ledger.

The Buckeyes will wrap up the weekend with a noon match at Michigan State in East Lansing Sunday.

How it Happened
- Ohio State claimed the doubles point and 1-0 lead.
- The duo of Audrey Spencer and Nao Nishino rolled to a 6-1 win over Ava Bruno and Lily Jones on court three.
- Michigan's No. 48-ranked Julia Fliegner and Reese Miller jumped out to a 5-1 lead over the Buckeye tandem of Sydni Ratliff and Dani Schoenly on court two. The Buckeyes battled back to 4-5 but the Wolverines held on for a 6-4 win.
- On court one, the Buckeyes' No. 32-ranked duo of Luciana Perry and Teah Chavez won the final four games to defeat Michigan's No. 27 Jessica Bernales and Piper Charney, 6-4, for the doubles point.
- Ohio State won on courts two and five for a 3-0 lead.
- On court two, No. 43 Chavez topped No. 25 Charney, 7-5, 6-1. In the first set Chavez won four games in a row for a 5-3 lead. Charney tied the set at 5-all but the Buckeye pulled away at the end and carried momentum into the second set for an early lead en route to a 6-1 win.
- Sydni Ratliff was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over No. 80 Miller on court five. Ratliff came back from an early break in set one and jumped out to a 3-1 lead in set two.
- Michigan rallied with four singles wins in a row to take the match.
- Bernales topped No. 72 Spencer on court six and No. 96 Emily Sartz-Lunde defeated No. 87 Shelly Bereznyak on court four, both in straight sets.
- On court three, Michigan's No. 31 Jones won the first set 7-5 and Nishino took the second, 6-2. Jones pulled away in the third for a 6-2 win to tie the team score at three.
- The match came down to a third set on court one in a matchup between Top 10 players. The Buckeyes' No. 7-ranked Perry won the first set, 7-5, winning four of the final five games, against No. 2 Fliegner. In the second set, the Wolverine forced a tiebreak, which she won, 7-4. In the third, Fliegner won the first two games. Perry was able to break to get on serve but another break from Fliegner gave her the lead back and she won 6-1 to clinch the team victory.
- Chavez is 7-0 in dual matches this spring to lead the Buckeyes. Nishino's loss was her first in a dual match (6-1). Chavez and Perry are 7-1 in dual play as a doubles duo, with Nishino and Spencer 5-1 as a tandem.
The Schedule Ahead
- Ohio State remains on the road for more Big Ten matches, traveling to Maryland March 21 and Rutgers March 23.
- The Buckeyes return home later this month to face UCLA March 28 and No. 21 Southern California March 30. Admission and parking are free for all Ohio State home matches.
