Basics on the Buckeyes
- Ohio State is in the midst of an 11-game homestand and went 5-1 last weekend in its 2025 debut at Buckeye Field. The Buckeyes defeated Oakland twice, Merrimack, Kent State and Notre Dame.
- The Buckeyes are 18-5-1 and are receiving votes in both the NFCA Top 25 poll and the USA Softball poll.
- Ohio State has been powered by an offense that is averaging 8.5 runs per game over the last 10 games with a .365 team batting average and .804 slugging percentage.
- In that span, six different players have multiple home runs. Hadley Parisien and Taylor Cruse lead the way with five apiece, but they've been complemented by Jasmyn Burns (four), Morgan Frye (four), Sami Bewick (two) and Reagan Milliken (three).
- The current stretch of 10 games has included six run-rule victories and five contests in which the Buckeyes have scored 10 or more runs.
- The pitching staff has been up to the task, too. Freshman Lorin Boutte is 3-1 in her last six appearances with 20.1 innings pitched, one save and a 1.38 earned run average. Her 2.51 overall ERA ranks 21st in the Big Ten.
- Kennedy Kay has logged the second-most innings among the pitchers (40.1) and has a 3.79 ERA. In her last two appearances – vs. No. 1 Texas and Notre Dame – Kay's gone 7.2 innings and allowed just two earned runs.
Scouting Nebraska
- Winners of six consecutive games, Nebraska enters the weekend with a 19-6 overall record. Like Ohio State, the Huskers began their home slate last weekend and picked up wins over Northern Iowa (twice), Northern Colorado and South Dakota State.
- The Huskers are headlined by pitcher Jordy Bahl, who is 10-3 in the circle this season with a 1.26 ERA and 95 strikeouts in 77.2 innings. She's also a force at the plate, batting .514 with 11 doubles, 27 RBI and nine home runs.
- This weekend's matchup will feature two of the best offenses in the country. Nebraska leads the Big Ten with 53 home runs while the Buckeyes are second with 48. Ohio State has a Big Ten-best .670 slugging percentage while Nebraska is second at .657.
