Ohio State will open B1G play at Oregon Wednesday, take on SDSU Saturday
The Basics
- The No. 20 Ohio State women's lacrosse team hits the road for two games this week.
- The Buckeyes will start the Big Ten season at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday with a game against Oregon in Eugene, Ore.
- BTN will televise the matchup between the Buckeyes and the Ducks, with the broadcast also available on the Fox Sports app, and live stats will be available HERE.
- Saturday, Ohio State will take on San Diego State at 3 p.m. ET in San Diego, Calif.

- The Buckeyes are 6-0 on the year, while Oregon is 5-2 and San Diego State is 5-3.Â
- Ohio State and Oregon have met twice on the lacrosse field.
- In 2019, the Buckeye posted a 10-5 win at U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md., and in 2014 Ohio State downed the visiting Ducks, 13-9, in Columbus.
- Oregon is 5-2 in its first year as a member of the Big Ten. The Ducks are eighth nationally in draw control percentage and rank 19th in scoring offense, averaging 14.71 goals a game. The squad allows 9.86 goals per contest.
- The game Thursday is the first B1G game across the conference this season.
- The Ducks and Aztecs faced off last Thursday in Eugene, with Oregon posting a 17-16 win.
- Ohio State is 4-0 all-time against San Diego State. The last meeting was a 10-4 Buckeye road victory in 2023. The squads faced off in Columbus in 2019, a 16-10 Ohio State victory, and in 2013 when Ohio State won 19-11. The first meeting was in 2012 in Palo Alto, Calif., with the Buckeyes prevailing 19-4.
- San Diego State, an affiliate member of the Big 12 Conference for women's lacrosse, is 5-3 on the year. The Aztecs are third in the NCAA in ground balls (22.63) and shots (37.25) per game and rank sixth in scoring offense with 16.38 goals per game while ranking first nationally in shots on goal per game (29.88). They allow 14.13 goals per outing.
- Ohio State downed Cincinnati in overtime last Friday in Columbus, 10-9.
- The Buckeyes scored the game's first four goals and led 4-1 after the first quarter.
- Cincinnati tallied two of the first three goals in the second quarter but Ohio State scored twice in the last minute for a 7-3 lead at halftime.
- A four-goal run for the Bearcats to start the second half tied the game at seven.
- The Buckeyes pushed ahead at 8:15 before Cincinnati tallied twice in the final 1:35 for a 9-8 lead.
- Ohio State did not allow a goal the rest of the way. Buckeye Kampbell Stone notched the only goal of the fourth quarter to tie the game and Kate Tyack lifted the Buckeyes to the win at 2:03 of overtime with her fourth goal of the game.
- Junior goalie Jocelyn Torres was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List last week after an outstanding start to the season.
- She has 47 saves, with just 35 goals allowed, through her first six games as a Buckeye.
- Torres ranks first nationally in save percentage (.573) and is third in goals-against average (6.05).
- Ohio State's 6-0 start is tied with the 2002 squad for the best start to a season in program history. The most recent win streak to open the year was in 2012 when the Buckeyes won five in a row.
- In the national rankings this week, Ohio State is No. 20 in the IWLCA coaches poll, No. 19 in the IL Women media poll and No. 18 in the USA Lacrosse rankings.
- The Buckeyes are third nationally in scoring defense, allowing 6.17 goals per game. Katie Kaucheck, Ella Wright, Lilli Herman and Audrey Schoemer have all started the first six games on defense.
- Kaucheck had a career-best five caused turnovers vs. Cincinnati last week and is second on the team with eight this year. Sherman is first with 10 caused turnovers.
- Schoemer is first on the team with 13 ground balls, followed by goalie Jocelyn Torres with 10 and Kampbell Stone with nine.
- Brynn Ammerman leads the Buckeyes with 20 assists and 27 points. She is on a nine-game point streak (10g, 25a, 35p). Ammerman has two or more assists in each game this year and is 13th in the NCAA in assists, ranking ninth in assists per game (3.33).
- Ammerman's seven-assist game vs. Akron is tied for the sixth-most in a single game this season in the NCAA and tied for fourth in program history. She also had a hat trick vs. the Zips for a 10-point day, tied for the third-most in the NCAA this year and tying for fourth in school history.
- Kate Tyack has 16 goals in her last five games combined, with four vs. Louisville, Vanderbilt and Cincinnati and two tallies against Akron and Robert Morris. Her fourth goal of the game vs. Cincinnati was the overtime winner. She has 12 games with two or more goals through her first 23 collegiate games and has 49 points, with 41 goals and eight assists, as a Buckeye. Tyack has a team-high 16 goals this season.
- Stone has at least one goal in each game on the year and 11 total to tie for second on the team. She notched her third career hat trick against the Bearcats last week and has six multiple goal outings as a Buckeye, with 25 goals and 26 points in 23 games.
- Zoe Coleman had an 11-game point streak end last time out. She has notched 40 goals in her 40-game career, adding 19 assists for 59 points. She is tied for second on the squad with 11 goals this year.
- Leah Sax has at least one point in five of six games this season and is third with 14 points, on eight goals and six assists. After just three appearances and one goal through her first three years at Ohio State, Sax has 37 goals, 13 assists and 50 points in the 23 games since the start of 2024.
- Freshman Abby Boyle had a career-high six draw controls in the win over Cincinnati. She and Emily Magalotti are tied for the team lead with 15 each, followed by Stone with 12.
- Maeve Simonds has goals in back to back games for the Buckeyes and Annie Hargraves has at least one goal in four of six outings.
- The Buckeyes rank third nationally in clearing percentage (.942) and are eighth in caused turnovers per game (11.00).
- Ohio State will return home to host No. 21 USC at noon March 23, followed by a game vs. No. 11 Michigan at 6 p.m. March 27.
- Admission and parking are free for all regular season home games in Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium.
